Animator Madness

After finding myself in the mood to play around with face-ups and re-styling dolls, I went a little crazy last month and purchased these four 16" Disney Animator dolls.

I have great plans for Anna, she will be dressed in a nautical outfit, not unlike Sailor Moon, but not the exactly the same either . . . she just doesn't have the figure or the long legs that SM has. I shall keep her red hair, as it's quite cute tied in pony tails, and simply repaint her face.

I can easily see Elsa dressed elegantly in black and white, with long blond tresses, wide brim hat and black sunglasses . . . a little like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, but with a slight twist. Her hair was really fine, so it has already been replaced with a wig. Elsa's face will be completely repainted and her eyes given a cheeky wink.

Mulan's still in limbo and I'm not sure where she is headed, as she hasn't "spoken" to me yet and is still cosy in her box. Perhaps she will keep her Asian heritage, or maybe she will undergo a complete transformation, only time will tell . . . I'm waiting for some inspiration.

Merida on the other hand, is well on her way to being finished. I have knitted her a pair of fingerless gloves, hat, scarf and leg warmers and sewn her a dress. I have kept her gorgeous red curls, but the face will be repainted. She was the only doll that was pre-loved, and came without a box, though in very good condition. The other three were all mint . . . NRFB.

Upgraded shoes were a slight problem for all of them, as these dolls have a rather unusual foot size, however, the shoes have finally been ordered and should be arriving soon.

  2. Oooh I've seen these dolls. They're really cute. I've also seen some really great repaints on them. Can't wait to see your vision for them turn reality. Merida's hair is so lovely. Such a vibrant colour.

They're similar in size to your other girls?

    1. Hi Alasse,
Yes I thought so too. There are quite a few re-paints done by the Russian girls that are really beautiful, though I doubt if mine will be that good. I love Merida's red hair, but you know me, I always find myself bringing home lots of little red haired girls. :)

These are a couple of inches shorter than the Gotz dolls, but have larger heads. It's funny, I thought hubby might have balked at them knowing how he felt about the Blythe dolls, but no, he seems to have warmed to them surprisingly well.

    1. Haha! I promise there will be some process photos Alejandra. Ah! Mulan is a special doll and it's hard right now for me to imagine her any different to what she is, but as I said, only time will tell.

    1. Well Lise they are a lot less expensive than BJD's that's for sure, so I think you could add at least one or two to your collection . . . go on I dare you. :)

You do know it's also hard to just stop at one or two though? LOL!!

  6. Hellou and congrats on your findings. These dolls are so cute and I had trouble choosing one when I visited the Disney Store in Denmark. They had them in different sizes too. Look forward to seeing the results and I hope Mulan speaks to you soon! Hugs!

    1. Thank you Niina. If I had seen them all, I probably would have had the same trouble, but I didn't have the opportunity as you have had. I did know there were different sizes, but I think 16" is a good size for this doll to dress. I guess Mulan will speak when she's good and ready. :)
