Reality Check

For the next week or so, I will be spending more time sewing for my own dolls, rather than making new garments for my Etsy store. Things have been very quiet over there and I am just not in the mood for throwing good money after bad, especially when it means neglecting my own dolls to do so.

I switched bodies over on Sally and Ondine, giving Sally the younger body and Ondine the fuller busted body. I think Sally almost looks like Alice in her new dress and I'm so pleased I chose blue for her, the colour really suits her complexion. However, I am debating as to whether I should make stockings, socks or leave her legs as they are . . . any thoughts?

Hanako has been sitting on my sewing table since her arrival on the 14th May. Poor thing is completely naked (except for her wig), waiting for me to make her a yukata and sandals to wear.

Pippin is also waiting for her outfit to be made, although she has been wearing clothes belonging to her cousin, in the meantime.

Daisy and Maisie need face ups before they really look like sisters and I need to complete their dresses . . . the patterns have been drafted, but I'm still waiting on some pretty fabric to arrive.

There are more dolls coming, but not for some months yet, but you can read all about them HERE.

Ooops, I almost forgot, Ondine needs a very special costume too!

  1. Hello Sandy,
She looks just beautiful. I think stockings would work best with that gorgeous dress.
I cannot wait to see what is in store for the others,
    Big hug,
    Giac

  2. Sometimes, it's good to spend the time on your own dolls. Especially if you are needing the break from the shop.

Sally does look a little like Alice! Especially the way you have her posed here. Stockings would look great with that dress and those shoes.

    1. Yes, just lately I felt I haven't been spending as much time with them as I'd like. It doesn't help much when you have a busy social calendar either and this month we have a lot on.
I think you and Giac have sold me on the stockings, especially with those shoes. Thanks Alasse!

  3. I think lacy socks would be cute~

Taking time to care for your own dolls instead of the shop is a great idea, and I'm sure you will enjoy it a lot :)

    1. Hi Alejandra,
I think i've settled on stockings, but perhaps lacy as you suggest, rather than plain. I'm already having fun making new clothes for them . . . hopefully I will share tomorrow. :)

  4. Sally does look like Alice a bit, and she's so adorable, I love her face-up and innocent expression! I think socks with black ribbon details might suit this dress very well?

    1. Thank you Irene, the face up is the Luts default for Darin. I have settled on lacy stockings, but maybe I'll add garters and trim them with black ribbon.

  5. As they say, the cobblers children have no shoes! Take time to make some clothes for your dolls. They deserve to wear your gorgeous creations more so than other people's dolls!
This dress is beautiful and I too think stockings would complete the look.

    1. Thanks Sam, my own sewing is well underway now and I am really enjoying spending time with my dolls.
I am looking for just the right elastic lace to make the stockings, she will have them eventually.

  6. A bit late to the party but I think lacy stockings would be cute.

If things are quiet at the Etsy shop, working on your own stuff seems like a good way to refocus and keep your creative-constructive drive fueled. I hope things will pick back up for you soon!

    1. It's really good to see you GT, I know things have been really busy for you IRL.
I am actually enjoying the time to myself and I know things will pick up over there when I eventually make some new creations for the shop.
