Tuesday

Off to the Hairdresser

I was looking at Cadbury, Bonbon and Lindt  this morning and noticed how much of their faces was covered by their hair, so it was time for a visit to the hairdresser ~ me! I trimmed the fringes on Cadbury and Lindt so you could see their eyes. However, Bonbon needed her fringe and sides cut, and the back thinned out a little, so it wasn't so boofy.

They are quite content now they can see what they are playing with, though they rather look like they resent my intrusion on their play time to take this happy snap:)

Sunday

Thoughts of a Mermaid

Copyright Impldoll
For some time off and on, I've been pondering the idea of adding a Mermaid to my little Fantasy group. However, most of them are too big to compliment those I have already. I really wanted a YOSD size doll, so after too many hours of browsing the net, and still not finding what I was looking for, I came to the conclusion I was wasting good sewing time, so I gave up looking.

However, when I received Theron (Impldoll Teno), I began thinking about Gela and how I could perhaps adapt her to become my mermaid. Although I have an idea of where I am going with her, I still haven't worked it all out, but I did order a white Gela last night! I'll probably give her bow & arrow to Theron, but her horns and hooves can stay in her box until I figure what I want to do with them.

Now I know she's in production and will probably be here sometime in July, I'll think about making her tail while continuing with my other sewing.

EDIT: Have decided to sell this doll, it's available through the DOA marketplace.

Friday

Breaking the Silence

Yes, I know the blog has been a little on the quiet side, but hubby and I have had quite a social week, which means I haven't managed to get a lot done dolly wise.

Sunday, we spent the afternoon listening to the Groovin' Easy Orchestra, while feeding our faces with lovely fresh scones with jam and cream at the Bentleigh Club. (So fattening, no wonder I can't loose any weight. LOL!)

Tuesday, we went to the Princess Theatre to see "Anything Goes" ~ and we travelled in style. We both hate driving in the city and trying to find somewhere to park the car etc. can be a nightmare at times, so rather than risk a cab, we hired a chauffeured car to take us in and bring us home.

BTW if you are ever in need of transport around Melbourne, we can highly recommend "Melbourne Star Chauffeured Cars", the driver (Cam) was prompt, polite and friendly, the car (a beautiful Audi) was impeccably clean and the cost was only a fraction more than the price of a cab.

Yesterday, I received Teno from Impldoll and was surprised at how lovely and tactile his resin was. You can view pics of him here and here. As yet he hasn't any clothes, but that's on the agenda for next week, after I have finished the two dresses for my IMDA's.

So no pics to share today . . . we are off out again soon to enjoy dinner with friends, and then again next Tuesday to enjoy some yummy curries and meet another friend's new bride from overseas.

Wishing all my readers a lovely weekend, I'll be back with more photos next time.

Just a few snaps from our Doll Meet and Fantasy Birthday Party for Q&I's Tsukito.

Wednesday

Thank You

Under normal circumstances, I would thank you all individually for you kind comments, but in this instance I thought it appropriate to do this collectively. It was such a pleasure to read so many favourable comments about Ondine and her costume and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart, for being so kind. XXX

I managed to do a little more on her costume yesterday, so here's another progress photo of her ~

Today, I'm painting the fountain wall in our back garden, so I doubt if there will be much sewing done. I will post finished photos later in the week.

Hugs to you all for taking the time to read my blog!

12/6 QUICK UPDATE ~
I finished the sleeves
yesterday, but didn't
have time to take a
photo until today.

I wanted them to
look a little like fins,
but still show her
human hands.

Do you think I have
captured the look?

Now have to decide
whether she needs
some sort of head
adornment or not.

Monday

It Begins With an Idea

When I first saw the DIM Youra head I knew I had to have her, even though I wasn't sure what I was going to do with her. However, the more I looked at her, the easier it became to see who she would become . . . a sprite or more precisely a water spirit.

My first step was to purchase a body for her, a Luts Romantic Kid Delf. Then a wig and some very special eyes, not blue, nor green, but a combination of both.

As my thoughts turned to creating this water spirit, I gave her a name . . . Ondine.
Then a purpose . . . to direct the flow and course of the earth's water.
She would live in the waters of Elvin Forest and become a Guardian of the streams and the babbling brooks that meandered through it.

In my mind, Ondine's clothing had to shimmer just like the sun dancing on a lake and should be the colour of the sea. Soon the search for fabric was underway. I was lucky to find exactly what I was looking for quite quickly and as the idea continued to grow, the sewing began.

Fortunately, I had a lovely watery backdrop that would do to show you the first stage of Ondine's very special clothes.

Saturday

All in a Day's Work

I've had great fun in turning this beautiful piece of fabric

into this

then into this!

Hanako's (and mine) very first Kutaka & Obi.

Now to make her some sandals to wear with it, as her feet aren't suitable for Geta.

Wednesday

Reality Check

For the next week or so, I will be spending more time sewing for my own dolls, rather than making new garments for my Etsy store. Things have been very quiet over there and I am just not in the mood for throwing good money after bad, especially when it means neglecting my own dolls to do so.

I switched bodies over on Sally and Ondine, giving Sally the younger body and Ondine the fuller busted body. I think Sally almost looks like Alice in her new dress and I'm so pleased I chose blue for her, the colour really suits her complexion. However, I am debating as to whether I should make stockings, socks or leave her legs as they are . . . any thoughts?

Hanako has been sitting on my sewing table since her arrival on the 14th May. Poor thing is completely naked (except for her wig), waiting for me to make her a yukata and sandals to wear.

Pippin is also waiting for her outfit to be made, although she has been wearing clothes belonging to her cousin, in the meantime.

Daisy and Maisie need face ups before they really look like sisters and I need to complete their dresses . . . the patterns have been drafted, but I'm still waiting on some pretty fabric to arrive.

There are more dolls coming, but not for some months yet, but you can read all about them HERE.

Ooops, I almost forgot, Ondine needs a very special costume too!
