Animal Hats

Don't you just love it when something you ordered turns out to be even better than you thought it would be? I ordered these from Anna at Iasio . . . they are simply delightful and they fit like a glove. I love things that are very well made, and these are, you can tell Anna has given special attention to all the tiny details.

They can be worn by boy and girl BJD's, so I can share them around.

I like that they have "real" eyes, it gives the animal faces more character.

I wasn't sure how long the post would take from Poland, so I was extremely happy it only took eleven days from order to delivery all the way down under to Australia. I will be keeping my eye on this shop for other cute creations.

Tuesday

Comparing Anthros

I recently acquired a Coco Tribe Brice on the secondary market, which appeared to be a perfect companion for my Doll Leaves Jax. However, on her arrival and even though they are listed as a similar height (CT Brice is listed as 17cm and DL Jax as 16cm not including his ears), I was quite surprised to see how much more stocky she was compared to Jax, you could say she was quite chubby . . . but then I guess bears are meant to be a little on the cuddly side! :)

She had been listed on DoA as Beauty White, but her skin has yellowed evenly, which gives her a slightly more normal skin colouring. Mind you I am not complaining about this, for if I was to purchase one new she would have been much more expensive than what I paid for her.

She came as shown, with an outfit by Flower Doll Room (which consisted of a white lace dress, pink & white stripe underskirt, two puff sleeves and head wear), her cushion and Coco Tribe box.

Saturday

Defeated, Deflated, Relieved and Revivied

After several months of fiddling, putting up wallpaper, removing wallpaper, remodelling the rooms in the tree stump and finally realising no matter what I do, it's not working out to my satisfaction, I have finally given up!

I have always believed that I am not a quitter, but I am so overcome with frustration that I have given up on the idea of ever completing this project. I'm afraid my natural abilities do not extend this far, I just don't have the patience or skills of Giac or Sam. From now on, I'll leave the miniature mansions and dolls houses up to them.

You may ask, where are my little elves going to live . . . well they have found a nice comfy greenhouse, just down the road from the biscuit barrel and not far from the gingerbread house. I think it may have fallen off an Ikea truck!

All kidding aside, this little greenhouse from Ikea is perfect for them, it was a reasonable price (just $19.95) and has a metal floor, which gives the Real Pukis little tootsy magnets a firm foot hold. I have tested the magnet grip through a sheet of paper and it's quite good, which means I can easily use a piece of timber look scrapbook paper for the floor.

The walls are straight and all relevant angles square (apart from the roofline) so we should have no problems in doing the same with the back and side walls.

Also being rectangular, (very much to my relief), it should make it so easy and much more fun to arrange the furniture in this house. :)

Thursday

Some Do

Well by all accounts it seems my thoughts were not in the minority. Whether you thought it was modern technology, cultural differences, or simply just plain laziness, it appears there are people in our everyday lives, who are not as polite or as courteous as we would like them to be. Perhaps things may change if we all begin by setting a good example and encouraging those who do.
So firstly, rather than reply to comments individually, I would like to thank all my readers who took their valuable time to share their thoughts on "Who Cares?" and secondly, I would like to honour you all with a special award . . . now you don't have to do anymore than you have already done, you don't have to pass this on or even post it on your blog if you prefer not to, this is just my way of saying "Thank You" for being someone who couldn't care more.

-oOo-

On a lighter note, my LittleFee Reni is on board for delivery today (at long last) and yesterday I received a tiny delivery from BellasBittyBabes which you can see below on my RealPukis ~ Misty and Hollow. They are beautifully made and fit perfectly. I think the two of them look very cute in their new outfits and they are so happy to finally have something decent to wear, but poor Mossy is still running around the forest in the raw!

Hollow is asking me: "Perhaps you can convince BBB to make Mossy an outfit just like mine."

Me: "We'll see Hollow, we'll see."

Hugs to you all, I hope you are all having a wonderful dolly day!!

EDIT: She's arrived and you can see her here!

Tuesday

Who Cares?

At long last, my LittleFee Reni is on her way home, I received my Shipping Notice Friday. I was hoping to show you photos today, as a Friday EMS is usually delivered the following Tuesday, but although I know she's already arrived in Melbourne, the parcel is not showing up on Australia Post's website as yet.

-oOo-

Anyway, there is something else that I would like to chat about today. I am a strong believer in change for the better and am all for advancing technology, but unfortunately it has some very disappointing side effects . . . well at least it does for me.

I have noticed since the introduction of mobile phones (cell phones) and the inevitable texting, that many people no longer address people by their names. I have always thought it only common courtesy to address someone in a written letter, PM or email by their name if I know it, or Sir or Madam if I don't.

However, more and more these days, I find the messages and emails I receive sound so detached, it's like these people couldn't care less about you. One is given the impression, you're just a thorn in their side or as the sign says, they just don't give a shit.

This became especially noticeable when it came to making a couple of  enquiries on Etsy recently. I was just checking on delivery times for items I had ordered, but although I addressed the person by their name, was polite and signed my real name after the "Kind regards", the notes of reply were just that, notes!

Very brief, disinterested and almost flippant, no "Hello", no "Thank you for your enquiry",  no reference to personal names or "Kind regards" at the end, which has certainly put me off purchasing from these suppliers again.

I'm not saying every supplier is like that, but I certainly would have thought, any supplier wanting repeat business, would take the time to provide some degree of thoughtful, personal service, but obviously there are some who really don't give a damn!

How do you feel about this, do you think we are gradually becoming a "couldn't care less", nameless society?

Personally, I may be an old fuddy duddy, but I would much rather be known as someone who couldn't care more . . . wouldn't you?

Two in Two Days

Well after all my sadness at not receiving my DZ order because it had been overlooked and then cancelling it because I wasn't prepared to wait another 6 or 7 months for a body for Youra, I have miraculously had two dolls arrive in two days

Yesterday my Luts KD Darin turned up out of the blue (you can see her here) and from all indications she looks like becoming my little tomboy, but only time will tell and she is yet to be named.

Today, I actually received two parcels, one was a book that I have wanted since I missed out on it's first release, and I have Heather to thank for that, as it was her recent blog post on "Enchanted Dolls" that spurred me into looking on the internet once more, on the off chance I'd find one, and find one I did! Thanks Heather! :)

The second parcel contained a DollFamily-H Tao Yue, which I'd managed to buy on the secondary market for a reasonable price. I was thinking of using her body, instead of the DZ that I cancelled, for my Youra head, but until I have time to play, that remains to be seen. I must say, I do love the jointed fingers on the hands and pretty clothes that came with her.

EDIT: Youra's head looked too small on this doll's shoulders, so gave this little girl a different colour wig to try, now I'm thinking I may keep her as the sculpt is quite lovely, but add eyelashes and perhaps give her a face up.

What do you think? Does the hair colour suit her better? Should I give her a face up?

Sunday

7th February Doll Meet

Ancelina was quite astonished at Antoinette's behaviour.

You may remember this dress before I added the silver scull. :)

Saturday

New Off the Drawing Board

Not posting as often as I would like, but I have been focussing on completing things on my list these past couple of weeks. I did still manage to sew a couple of new designs, although it will be a little while before they will be ready to be listed on Etsy, as there is more to come in this story. There is also quite a bit of sewing and hand finishing involved in these designs, so it takes a little while to complete them, however, it's been very worth while and I am pleased with the results so far.

Hubby and I have also managed to finish painting all the fitted bookcases and the walls, except for one section where our television unit is situated. That section will stay as is until the Regency panelling is fixed over the brick wall and the floor has been almost laid completely. It remains to be seen if we are doing the right thing this way, but we figured it was the best way to go, seeing at the unit is so disgustingly large and heavy (the disadvantage of it being solid timber with leadlight doors).

Today, I am off to a doll meet and I'm really looking forward to enjoying some R&R with my fellow enthusiasts here in Melbourne . . . there's nothing quite like spending dolly time with like minded people!

Monday

Photoshoot: Parisian Preps

I thought today I would take the opportunity of a quiet morning to snap a few pics of my latest creations. But honestly, trying to do a simple photoshoot can be a real headache when my girls won't stand still and decide it's much more fun to look in every other direction instead of at the camera.

Antoinette looks like she's off with birds and Angelique is being her bossy self, telling Ancelina to "Sit on the floor and be still!"

The dresses & bloomers are styled using the skull dress pattern I made the other day, each in a different fabric with a variation in trim.

While previewing this post, I noticed a post from Night Owl in my side column and I must say it took me by complete surprise! So Night Owl if you are reading this post, I am really sorry to see you go, I enjoyed your company and comments, but I do understand that all good things come to an end sooner or later. Please know you will always be welcome here and I wish you much happiness for the future.

P.S. There is a little photo story for you here!
