Our June Adventure

Once again it's time for Heather's challenge for the Adventurer's Club.
Unfortunately, the weather has been very much against me taking photos outside this month. It has been so cold, wet and windy, the garden is extremely damp underfoot. So after speaking with all my girls at some length, it was agreed that we would use Kismet's backyard instead. It really was time that she had a chance to steal the limelight and enjoy an adventure of sorts of her very own.
It was a typical cold winter's day, but in Kismet's world the sun was shining and her beautiful garden was flush with lovely pink roses. Kismet woke early to find a pretty dress on a hanger beside her bed. I poked my head into her room and asked,  "Kismet do you think you could model this little dress I made for Carol's Lati Yellow? I need to take some photos for my portfolio."

"Oh yes, I would love to, you know how much I love trying on pretty dresses," she replied enthusiastically.

She jumped right out of bed, ran into her bathroom and quickly washed and dressed herself. When she was ready, we went out into her backyard and together we selected the perfect spot by the stairs to take some photos.

"Look at me, I'm modelling just like the girls on the runway." she said proudly with hand on hip.

As she twirled and swished the skirt around, I shouted, "Kismet, please stand still so I can focus the camera!" Sometimes, when she's all caught up in her own little world, I have to shout to gain her attention.

"Okay, okay, there's no need to yell at me." She pouted while brushing her hair back from her face. "I was just trying to show off the dress properly, so people can see how sweet the pattern is."

She suddenly looked a little sad, so I asked her, "What's wrong Kismet? Aren't you enjoying the modelling?"

"Oh no, it's not that, I was just thinking how nice it would be, if you made me one just like this, I'm so sick of wearing that same shabby black Gothic dress."

I thought you liked your Gothic dress? I queried.

"I do, but it's getting a bit old and it's the only one I have. It would be so good to have a change of clothes to wear." She replied. "Besides, you know how much I love Hello Kitty."

Seeing the pleading look on her face, I very quickly agreed. "Okay, as a reward for modelling today, I will make you one of your very own."

She smiled broadly and when we finished the photo session, we went back to the house to choose a Hello Kitty fabric just for her. So today, might not have been a bold or risky undertaking, but to Kismet, it was an exciting and unusual experience . . . a truly wonderful adventure.

Friday

How Time Flies!

I'm still here and working like a Trojan on some new designs for my Etsy boutique. These are just some of the new cloche hats and boleros that I have finished and the girls modelling them are Luts Kid Delf at the back, Honey Delf and PukiFee. SD size is also available, but unfortunately I still haven't had time to do Rogebell's face. They are made from felt and there will be a wide colour choice. They are totally hand sewn and the edges are finished with blanket stitch in a hand painted cotton.

Have also been spending quite a lot of time doing research into flooring to go down in my kitchen, dining and library come entertainment room. There are so many different types of flooring these days it's difficult to make a decision, but I know I definitely want to do away with the carpet and Pegulan which I have been bitterly disappointed with, so I feel we are getting closer to finally reaching one.

Sunday

7th June Doll Meet Photos

Here they are as promised, there are quite a few, so please allow time for them all to load.

We all brought some of our props along and used them to practice our photography and hopefully improve our skills.

This little one (above) was so frightened the shopping cart would topple over.

It was a "Lady in Red" day, but not all of our girls have completely red outfits, however, most of the girls were wearing something red.

I did manage to finish Seraphine's outfit in time, which was totally red to match her hair and eyes!

Friday

Floating Head

Today, I ordered a floating head with the default "A" face-up  from Doll In Mind. I hadn't intended to, but I'm sure my readers understand how easily it happens. :) I have long been an admirer of the DIM dolls and Youra is such a pretty sculpt, I thought I may as well take advantage of the Event discount.

It was unfortunate that her body has been discontinued, but as she has 16.7cm head (6/7" wig size) and normally stands at 41.8cm tall, I don't think it will be a problem finding her a new one.

I will wait until she arrives though, as I would like to see the normal skin to compare it with others. I do know my DIM Flowne matched quite well with the Luts body I bought her, so I may well order another Luts body. Not sure yet, but will keep you posted.

This week has been a busy and enjoyable one for me. I managed to get a fair bit of sewing done, then had a lovely lunch out with hubby on Wednesday, spent the day shopping with three of the Paracosm girls on Thursday, we all bought lots of dolly props which was great fun and we have a meet on tomorrow at the Country Club, so should have some photos to show you next post.

Hope you had an enjoyable week too!
